Shipyard Area Manager
Summary
The Ship Area Manager will provide regular status reports, performance metrics and updates on their continuous improvement process efforts to Senior Leadership Team. This position involves regular contact with our customer inspection teams, ABS and SUPSHIP inspection teams related to compliance with requirements, quality of work and adherence to schedule. This position may require interfaces with system/equipment suppliers. This position will have direct supervision of the manufacturing team consisting of General Foremen and front line Foremen.
Shipyard Area Manager Responsibilities include:
Overall Safety, Cost and Schedule Performance in their assigned SOC Builds trust and unit cohesion through, honesty, fairness and respect. Be a strong servant leader to the General Foremen and Foremen reporting to them Evaluating skill sets and determine training needs necessary to grow the General Foremen, Foremen and SOC workforce competence Maintaining strict discipline and adherence to Safety and Security policies Enforcing all company policies and work rules Following all company Work Instructions and (SOP) Standard Operation Procedures Drives LEAN Manufacturing and 5S Principles to improve productivity and performance Safety.
Shipyard Area Manager Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least seven (7) years of trade experience. Four (4) years of management experience is required. Preference is given to those with experience in a manufacturing or shipbuilding environment. An Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree is a plus. Experience with systems such as EVMS, Baan, or a Time and Attendance Timekeeping software is a plus
SKILLS
Essential to this position is the ability to lead, direct, coach, and discipline employees in alignment with Company processes, policies, and procedures. A working knowledge of Continuous Process Improvement Ability to read blueprints Experience with computer systems such as EVMS, Baan, or a Time and Attendance systems. Must have strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills. Must have strong organizational and time management skills. Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations Must have effective written and verbal communication skills Must have ability to maintain confidentiality.
