Dentist Job Description:
The Dental Services Program is responsible for the delivery of quality dental services in the context of our integrated medical-dental ambulatory setting. The Dentist is responsible for providing (as appropriate) general dental services and will assist in establishing standards of dental service and developing organizational plans to carry out a team approach to comprehensive dental, medical, and nutritional service. The Dentist reports to the Dental Director. Guaranteed salary and sign on bonus.
Dentist Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to diagnose and provide treatment to patients with ages >18 presenting with general medical disease; same as adult medicine, for ages thirteen (13) to eighteen (18)
- Pre-operative and post-operative care of the routine patient, I & D of abscess, simple extractions. Soft tissue impacted extraction, surgical extraction.
- Composite posterior and anterior, Stainless Steel crown and simple crowns and build ups · Management and treatment of periodontal disease – includes root planning, scale prophy and management of periodontal disease. ·
- Management of uncomplicated Denture, Acrylic Partials, Adjustments, Tissue Conditioning and Relines · Other Procedures i) Fabrication of soft/hard night guards ii) Occlusal Adjustment/Quad iii) Gingevectomy/Quad iv) Alveolectomoy v) Space maintainers vi) Tooth Splint vii) Sealants viii) Root Canal Treatment
- Other duties include, but are not limited to:
- Adherence to GVHC rules and policies.
- Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Dentist Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds (on wheels).
- Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff.
- Must have vision with or without lenses that is adequate to read memos, a computer screen, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents.
- Must have high manual dexterity.
- Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouching, reaching, kneeling, twisting/turning, fingering and feeling.
Dentist Education/Experience Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited dental school.

- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
Job Knowledge:
- Authorize knowledge of the principles, practice and techniques of dentistry.
- Special knowledge in the prevention aspects of oral health and its related techniques and procedures.
- Experience and understanding of dental health education methods.
- Basic understanding of nutrition.
Experience:
- Professional experience in clinical dentistry preferable.
- Working or desire to work in rural community setting with many ethnic groups.
