This onsite position will involve working directly with patients to diagnose and treat speech, language, and communication disorders.
Position Summary: The Speech Therapist will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. The ideal candidate will have a deep commitment to patient care, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients’ speech, language, voice, and fluency using standardized tests and clinical observation. Accurately diagnose communication disorders.
- Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment results. Set realistic and measurable goals in collaboration with patients and their families.
- Therapy Delivery: Provide evidence-based speech and language therapy to patients of all ages. Utilize a variety of techniques and tools to address specific disorders and improve communication skills.
- Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitor and document patients’ progress towards goals. Adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Family and Caregiver Education: Educate patients, families, and caregivers about communication disorders, therapy techniques, and strategies to support progress at home.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, occupational therapists, and psychologists, to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients’ needs within the healthcare system and work to ensure they receive the appropriate services and support.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education opportunities to maintain licensure and stay current with best practices in speech therapy.
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Ensure a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Valid state licensure and certification in speech-language pathology (e.g., CCC-SLP from ASHA).
- Proven experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of speech and language disorders.
- Strong clinical skills and the ability to develop effective treatment plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a healthcare or clinical setting.
- Specialized training or certification in areas such as pediatric speech therapy, dysphagia, or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
