POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The Easterseals Center for Better Hearing is a busy non-profit practice located in Western and Central Connecticut. We are looking for a per diem Referral Coordinator. This is a fast-paced position that requires the ability to provide excellent customer service while maintaining a high degree of accuracy for assigned tasks. Our staff enjoys helping people gain a better quality of life through the quality hearing healthcare that our Center provides. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide exemplary customer service to our patients

Receive and review audiology referrals. Verify that all necessary documentation for the referral is obtained and meets the requirements of the patient’s applicable insurance.

Obtain authorizations and verify insurance benefits/eligibility.

Work with our referral partners to obtain documentation that meets the patient’s payer requirements.

Schedule and coordinate patient appointments.

Track missed appointments and maintain timely follow up and correspondence for these cases.

Perform other related duties as required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL REQUIREMENTS, AND DESIRED ATTRIBUTES

Portray an efficient and professional image to visitors.

Effective communicator with staff, patients, program participants and visitors.

Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.

Proficient typing and computer skills.

Knowledge of medical insurance verification.

Experience working with Medical EMR/EHR system(s)

Able to multi-task and manage a high volume of calls with simultaneous front desk traffic.

Proficient organizational skills, good time management with the ability to independently set priorities and meet deadlines.

Retain privileged/patient information in confidence.

Must be willing to work in the various locations of the audiology practice and/or remotely as required.

This position is authorized to have access to protected Health Information (PHI) to perform specific job duties.
EDUCATION
-
High School or equivalent required. Associates degree in Business or related field strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE
-
Minimum of two years proven customer service excellence in a medical office or comparable environment required.

Experience with medical insurance verification and authorization preferred
