Essential Job Responsibilities:

Obtains, verifies, and records health history of patients. Gathers pertinent health data through physical assessments electronic health records and assists patients with electronic health history acquisition. Collects specimens for laboratory analysis including biopsies, tissue cultures, swabs, or blood for genetic testing.

Provides basic patient care as ordered. Orders medications and administers treatments as directed. Assists other health care professionals in performing exams, diagnostic procedures and treatments, and minor medical procedures. Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies.

Documents assessments, interventions, patient/family responses, dispensed/prescribed medication, and test results in medical records. Obtains and prepares audit records for Oncology program compliance.

Enters patient data, collects images (Ultrasound and photo). Clean US probe(s) and devices surfaces and maintain supplies of probe covers, print paper, biopsy devices.

Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating physician advice/instructions.

Triages incoming telephone calls; provides instructions to patient and family regarding treatment. Communicates patient status change with physicians.

Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatment; maintains accounting of pharmaceutical samples and controlled drugs.

Schedules surgeries and tests as needed and ordered by physician, including coordination of precertification for advanced imaging.

Prepares records in anticipation of consultations and follow-up visits, including coordinating image and pathology transfer from outside facilities.

Shares team responsibilities to meet clinical operational needs and assists with cross coverage as needed, including participation in clinical care at multiple sites.
