Primary Job Responsibilities:
The Arc Flash Data Collection Technician Lead is responsible for data collection and inspection of electrical distribution equipment for industrial plants and commercial facilities on a nationwide basis. The position is support by an assistant field technician and requires work done independently as a team as well as with a crew of other electrical field engineers and assistants. The job requires traveling to customer plants and requires working on or interacting with energized electrical equipment.
The job includes, but is not limited to:
- Travel to customer sites to test, inspect, and collect data on electrical systems.
- Collect data for Arc Flash Studies and deliver reports with labeling
- Perform Thermal Infrared Inspections (training can be provided)
- Document data collection and test information using tablets or computers.
- Track project scope completion with updates to the scheduling and planning team.
- Assist in the sales process acting as the technical expert in electrical testing and maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Lead and develop field technical assistants
- Creating and maintaining a safe work environment at all times
Qualifications
- Experience working around energized 480V 3-phase equipment
- Knowledge and ability to remove electrical panel dead fronts.
- Ability to read electrical schematics
- Familiar with NFPA70E Electrical Safety and Arc Flash standards
- Ability to travel nationally
- Must have a valid driving license and ability to rent cars
- Be in good physical shape and capable of walking all day at a plant while wearing PPE
- Ability to climb ladders and at heights up to 30 feet
- The ability to lift up to 50 lbs, reach above your head and below your knees.
- Proficient with computers and tablets
- Analytical thinking and problem solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with arc flash data collection
- Level 1 or higher Thermography Certification
- Journeyman level electrician
- Switchgear maintenance
Education & Work Experience
- Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience in electrical services.
- High school diploma or GED, or graduates of trade schools or apprenticeship programs.
Location
- Travel to local customer plants, locally, regionally and out of state required.
Travel
- Up to 100% travel to locations regionally and across the United States.
