Landscape Superintendent
Job Description:
Being a Superintendent with Everything Outdoors is a unique position. We see this opportunity as a chance to bring your outside experience and knowledge to lead and shape the company. As a Superintendent you will sharpen your skills managing people, projects, and overall business functions. The position requires someone who is goal oriented with a variety of skills: networking, strong communication, project management, business knowledge, and an openness to grow. The Superintendent will work closely with the owner and upper management to meet significant growth and production goals for the company and ensure all operations and sales are running smoothly by filling in the gaps wherever is needed.
Job Duties:
General Management:
The management side of this role will be focused on employee management and operations. As the superintendent you will be responsible for the overall success of projects and smooth business function. The superintendent should be able to identify potential areas of improvement in processes, procedures, and general tasks. It is key for the superintendent to be able to delegate their own tasks and not need to be micromanaged by their superior. The superintendent needs to have the ability to manage personnel, maintain a strong company culture and keep personnel accountable for their positions.
Operations:
The company’s success relies on our crews’ ability to meet or beat their production goals each day. This is directly related to the manager's ability to affect a crew’s performance and motivation. The superintendent is in charge of managing the crews in the successful installation of beautiful design-build landscape projects from start to finish and should use a get-it-done approach when managing each project.
To ensure the success of a crew it will require ordering of materials, maintaining relationships with vendors, and proper scheduling of deliveries to guarantee a smooth start to finish of projects. These tasks are the responsibility of the salesman, but the superintendent should be on top of them to make sure they are doing their part and not causing a bottleneck in the system.
The superintendent makes game plans, sticks with it until the job is done, adapts to solve problems that may arise, and ensures our clients are fully satisfied.
