MISSION STATEMENT
Through rigorous curriculum, high-quality instruction, and intentional character development, Nevada Rise Academy Charter School places every kindergarten through 5th grade student on a path to college, and ensures each student has access to a life of opportunity.
POSITION SUMMARY
Teachers are entrusted with advancing the mission of the school through the development of rigorous, standards- aligned curriculum, delivering high-quality instruction, and maintaining a learning environment that balances structure and joy that will place students on a path to college. Teachers will be held accountable by the School Director in regard to their performance and growth, student achievement, and quality of curriculum. Lead teacher roles are full-time teaching positions for Kindergarten through 5th grade. Teachers are responsible for collaboration with their grade level partners, particularly for alignment of lesson planning, instructional planning, and classroom management. Teachers take responsibility for the high-academic achievement and character development of every child in her/his classroom. Each grade consists three cohort classrooms that work collaboratively with associate teachers for student success.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
In addition to the duties set forth below, teachers will perform all duties assigned by his/her supervisor.
- Embody the mission and vision of Nevada
- Create rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum including scope and sequence, annual plan, unit plans, and lesson plans; develop and implement interim, midterm, and final assessments as
- Develop and implement ambitious, rigorous, and standards-aligned lesson plans targeted with the end goal of student performance at or above grade level
- Teach and enforce schoolwide systems, rules, consequences, disciplinary codes, and rewards at all
- Provide engaging, motivating, and rigorous instruction in whole-class, small group, and individual settings
- Provide academic support and tutoring to small groups or individual students as
- Analyze student achievement data in collaboration with School Director, Director of Scholar Supports, and teachers.
- Implement data tracking systems and use data to inform instructional development and
- Communicate regularly and proactively with student and families to cultivate positive, collaborative relationships
- Draft student report cards and progress reports and revise as
- Collaborate with other staff members and actively participate in all professional development and learning activities.
- Be receptive to and use feedback to continuously improve effectiveness in all instructional practices and make productive changes in
- Complete all administrative requirements before given
- Participate in additional activities including field trips, academic support sessions, and other required programs as needed throughout the year.
COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong commitment to, belief in, and alignment with mission and vision of
- Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree in Special Education is preferred
- Valid Nevada teaching
- TB clearance; Background check clearance
- Experience working in urban education with a history of significant gains in student performance
- Experience or familiarity analyzing data and using data to inform
- Strong organization and communication
- Openness to feedback, desire to continue development as professional, and willingness to take responsibility for student outcomes and achievement
- Ability to work collaboratively and in a team-orientated environment
- Growth mindset and ability to accept and implement feedback
- Willingness to work hard and the flexibility to work through start-up challenges
- Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)
