Responsibilities/Duties:
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand the metal fabrication requirements.
- Material Selection and Preparation: Choose appropriate metals and alloys based on project specifications and prepare materials by cutting, grinding, and shaping them.
- Welding Techniques: Utilize various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding to join metal components with precision and accuracy.
- Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding: Perform MIG welding for rapid and efficient fusion of metals, particularly for thicker materials and high-production environments.
- Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding: Use TIG welding for high-quality and precise welds, especially when working with thin metals and intricate details.
- Metal Cutting: Employ cutting techniques, such as plasma cutting, oxy-fuel cutting, or mechanical cutting, to shape metals as per project requirements.
- Grinding and Finishing: Carry out grinding and finishing operations to smooth and polish welded surfaces, ensuring a visually appealing and structurally sound result.
- Fixture Setup: Set up and secure metal components in welding fixtures or jigs to maintain alignment and accuracy during the welding process.
- Welding Inspection: Conduct visual inspections and non-destructive testing to ensure weld quality and adherence to industry standards.
- Metal Assembly: Assist in the assembly of fabricated metal components into larger structures or products, following assembly instructions and guidelines.
- Welding Documentation: Maintain accurate records of welding parameters, material usage, and any quality control measures implemented during the fabrication process.
- Collaboration with Fabrication Team: Work collaboratively with other metal fabricators, welders, and fabricators to ensure seamless integration of components into the final product.
- Knowledge of Metal Properties: Understand the properties of different metals and alloys to ensure appropriate welding procedures and techniques are applied.
