ADVOCATE SUPPORT SPECIALIST
JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY:
The Advocate Support Specialist provides administrative and program support to the Outreach Advocacy Manager and client services. This position is committed to promoting the safety and empowerment of all victims through implementation of advocacy, hotlines crisis intervention, and operation support services.

*Ability to travel to all locations.

Outreach Advocacy Program
SCHEDULE:
Monday – Friday – Generally 9-5 business hours with ability to meet connect with clients at alternate times at least two evenings a week or Saturdays.

Major Responsibilities:
- Support a victim-centered and trauma informed advocacy approach with compassion, empathy, and care.
- Provide support and contribute to a working environment in which all individuals are respected regardless of their individual differences.
- Assess clients’ needs and determine their appropriateness for the services of HDNBC.
- Provide support services related to agency operations and facilities maintenance
- Perform basic administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, copies
- Provide initial greeting to callers and visitors at office
- Provide support services to all Agency program and staff by directing all contacts to the appropriate personnel and assisting as appropriate
- Answer, assist, and/or direct incoming business and crisis line calls
- Screen, assess, and schedule intakes
- Provide signed receipts and clear records of any donations received or expenses incurred
- Provide maintenance and supply needs to supervisor
- Monitors and controls security system
- Enhance the Agency’s image in the community through all interactions
Other:
- Provide general administrative support as directed by the Outreach Advocacy Manager
- Adhere to agency policies and work rules, including adherence to confidentiality policies and code of ethics.
- Attend trainings and continuing education activities as assigned. Other duties as assigned.
- Provide Partner Advocate support for the victims of domestic abuse currently or in the past partnered with clients in the Battering Intervention Prevention Program (BIPP).
- Maintain regular contact with all HDNBC clients awaiting individual, group therapy, or legal services.
- Develop, maintain, and update resource list for client services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma, GED, or completion of associate degree preferred
- Proficiency in Windows based programs as Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Skills in organization, writing and typing
- Excellent phone skills, computing skills, including basic computer problem solving, competence with Microsoft Office, and comfort with database systems.
- Must have sensitivity and commitment to issues of family violence.
- Demonstrated ability to listen to others and display empathy.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
Working Conditions: Plano/Garland. Currently services are being provided in person and via telehealth. This position is on site in the office.
Physical Requirements: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (up to 25 lbs.). Ability to provide accompaniment to advocacy appointments.

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
