The Role:
The HSE Coordinator plays a pivotal role in safeguarding our workforce and ensuring regulatory compliance within our industrial environment. They are tasked with upholding the utmost standards of safety, adhering to state, federal, local, and customer regulations. Our ideal candidate will spearhead initiatives, meticulously plan, and seamlessly execute a spectrum of health, safety, and environmental programs, all aimed at fostering a workplace where safety thrives, and our air permit remains in pristine compliance.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct comprehensive safety orientation training for all new employees, including contractors, ensuring seamless integration into our safety culture.
- Conduct thorough safety inspections of all plant departments daily, complemented by formal monthly audits to ensure stringent compliance.
- Take the lead in investigating all accidents, incidents, and Near Miss occurrences, meticulously identifying root causes to implement effective corrective actions.
- Oversee the completion of annual training sessions on essential topics such as Hazard Communication (GHS), Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Confined Space Entry, Forklift Safety, and Working at Heights, ensuring full compliance.
- Proactively address and rectify unsafe behaviors to mitigate potential risks and uphold our safety standards.
- Gather requisite data to support our air permit, maintaining meticulous records to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Continuously update and enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to reflect the latest safety protocols and industry best practices.
- Facilitate engaging and informative training sessions to empower employees with the knowledge and skills needed to maintain a safe working environment.
- Establish and oversee safety committees in both Greensboro and Moulton, fostering collaboration and driving collective efforts towards a safer workplace.
We require you to have:
- 3-5 years of experience in safety program management.
- Bachelor's degree in safety or related field, or currently pursuing one.
- Comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal regulations.
- Proficient in cross-functional collaboration across various organizational levels.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA compliance standards.
- Effective coaching and mentoring skills.
- Exceptional planning and presentation capabilities.
- Proven track record in enforcing OSHA regulations through meticulous record-keeping and violation reporting.
- Familiarity with SWPPP and environmental reporting requirements.
It’s helpful if you also have:
- Proven track record in continuous improvement initiatives.
- ASP or CSP certification.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Certification in OSHA 30 (General Industry).
- Additional experience in refractory/steelmaking.
- Experience in a union environment.
