SUMMARY
Works with individuals, families and groups victimized by natural flooding disasters to provide outreach, basic support, individual and group counseling public education and referral. The crisis counselor’s role is synonymous with the term outreach worker. Will use the given tools of communication with the signed contacts; obtain additional client information and we refer and provide additional instructions.
QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED preferred; but not required.

Must have the ability to independently travel within the targeted communities. Access to automobile is preferred.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide range of culturally diverse individuals experiencing crisis and distress.

Ability to think critically and communicate both verbally and in writing in a professional manner.

Must possess basic computer skills and knowledge of office software programs.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Must reside or experience working in the targeted community or in the high economic hardship communities.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Engage with clients to identify challenges they face and facilitate referrals.

Provide clients with information and guidance related to ongoing services.

Comply with training regarding confidentiality and handling of personal identifiable information; follow all scripts policies and procedures established for the program.

Collaborate with supervisor to identify project goals collect and record information regarding individuals needs goals referrals outcomes and other relevant data.

Participate in ongoing professional development and related training as well as scheduled team meetings.
