Job Summary
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is responsible for implementing behavior intervention plans developed by the supervising Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA). The RBT works directly with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavior challenges, implementing interventions designed to teach new skills and reduce problem behaviors. The RBT collects data, assists with assessments, and communicates regularly with the supervising BCBA/BCaBA and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) developed by the supervising BCBA/BCaBA.
- Provide direct one-on-one behavior therapy sessions with clients, following the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
- Collect and record data on client progress and behavior using specified data collection methods.
- Assist with conducting preference assessments and other individualized assessments as directed by the BCBA/BCaBA.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions with clients, families, and team members.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and training sessions as required.
- Follow all policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines established by the organization and the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
- Collaborate effectively with other members of the interdisciplinary team, including parents, caregivers, educators, and other service providers.
- Implement behavior management techniques and strategies to address challenging behaviors and promote skill acquisition.
- Provide feedback and updates on client progress to the supervising BCBA/BCaBA on a regular basis.
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and training to enhance skills and knowledge in the field of behavior analysis.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including session notes, progress reports, and data sheets.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, or related field preferred.
- Must hold a current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavior challenges preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in challenging situations.
- Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and techniques.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Must pass a criminal background check and meet all other requirements for employment.
- Having experience with kids 6+ years is preferred.
