Alamo Heights Counseling, Inc. is seeking a professional, patient, and attentive individual to fill a unique office position.
Primary duties include:
- greeting clients and others who enter the office
- answering phones, sometimes a high volume (experience with a multi-line system and placing one caller on hold to answer the next is a plus)
- scheduling client appointments with counselors/therapists
- assisting owner/manager with credentialing therapists** (training will be provided)
- creating and maintaining records as directed by owner/manager and as required by our contracts with DFPS, consistent with our in-house policies and procedures
- assisting the owner/director with other projects
Other duties may include:
- assisting your co-workers when their work loads are heavier than yours
- verifying insurance benefits for clients to match them to therapists
- other duties as assigned by the office manager and/or owner
- assisting our attorney office-sharing partner through an agreement between the two companies
The ideal candidate
- is detail-oriented, conscientious, courteous, and responsible
- is polite and respectful, but does not allow friendly interaction to impede work completion
- is independent, conscientious, and self-motivated
- is a flexible team player, willing to help others when needed and more interested in finding solutions than placing blame
- is punctual--you arrive before your shift starts and are ready to start at the appointed time
- has no criminal history and no child abuse history because all positions here require a DFPS background check clearance
- is drug free and willing to work in an establishment that may engage in pre-employment or random drug testing
- is well-groomed and capable of dressing in business or business casual attire, as appropriate to the day and situation
- is capable of accepting re-direction and constructive criticism adjusting work and behavior accordingly
- can be assertive when necessary without becoming aggressive or defensive
- is able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with many individuals with varied personality types
- is comfortable working in a small business, family-owned business
- is comfortable working in a quiet environment, but can also cope well when the environment gets hectic
- is interested in staying in this position long-term
- has reliable transportation and can be at work consistently as agreed
- is available during needed hours (most likely 1 PM to 8 PM Monday-Friday and 8 to 4 on Saturdays. (This schedule may be flexible, but the described schedule is the ideal schedule.)
- Is English/Spanish bilingual
This position does not allow a lot of time to socialize during the business day. The office is serious and has high expectations for its personnel.
There may be times when, due to the professionals' busy schedules, you are alone in your work space, and you must maintain efficiency during those times when you do not have direct oversight.
The position is full time and must include some daytime hours and some evening hours due to therapists' schedules. Accommodations can be made but only with sufficient notices.
Raises and bonuses can be awarded in time with an excellent track record and the perception that you are "here to stay," however, if you are not comfortable with the advertised rate, please do not apply.
To be considered, you MUST pass all background checks required by our contract with DFPS, and you must be able to be at work promptly and consistently.
We are a drug-free, tobacco free workplace. You must be willing to participate in random drug testing and be willing not to use tobacco products on site.
You must be willing and able to maintain legal and healthcare-level confidentiality (under HIPAA) as our company provides mental health services and office shares with a small law firm. Previous experience in a social services background working with children and families is helpful and may allow for additional opportunities.
Most important, you need to be loyal and look at this as a permanent position in which you can grow and prosper long term.
