Participates with and provides work direction to employees engaged in a variety of Environmental Services functions in a limited area on an assigned shift. Provides training and mentoring as assigned by leadership. Ensures all safety and infection control standards are followed during the assigned shift.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: High School diploma or equivalent GED
Experience
Required: Supervisory/leadership experience or one year healthcare environmental services experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Working knowledge of materials, methods and practices used in cleaning operations.
Working knowledge of the operation and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines and other Environmental Services equipment.
Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of building surfaces.
Ability to lead, mentor and influence employees.
Ability to read and write and follow direct written and oral instructions.
Ability to use Microsoft Office Applications.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients and visitors.
Ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and odor control in work area.
Ability to multi-task and collaborate with key stakeholders.
Testing
Must pass the Physical Capacity Exam (PCE). This exam includes a 50-pound lifting requirement.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential
Under the direction of Supervisor, participates with and provides work direction to Environmental Service Aide, EVS Floor Tech, EVS-Operating Room and EVS Stockroom Clerk daily operational responsibilities.
Works in the full capacity of the above mentioned positions as required by the department operational needs.
Assists in mentoring and on-going training of all employees on processes and procedures and providing competency training to new-hire employees.
In collaboration with EVS Management Team, responsible for leadership in operational priorities and work flow.
Operates and instructs subordinate employees in the operation, care and maintenance of mechanical cleaning equipment.
Promotes quality improvement, staff and patient safety, and cultural diversity through department operations and by personal performance.
Follows all universal precautions, blood borne pathogen procedures and uses personal protective equipment as needed while cleaning patient care areas.
Reports any repairs needed including: leaky faucets, toilets, loose tiles, broken blinds, and damaged equipment.
Additional
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Pay Range
$21.20 -$31.80
