As a Garten porter, you’ll create the Garten Experience for our customers through excellent service and expertly-crafted products. You’ll be in an energetic environment where you’ll have the ability to master your food & beverage craft, work alongside friends and meet new people every day. A cup of coffee and a smile can go a long way, and we believe our baristas have the power to be the best moment in each customer’s day.

Responsibilities & Requirement Qualifications
- Previous Porter experience and proven track record
- Possess a current food handler card and understand basic food safety principles
- Understand maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Follow all set standard operating procedures as directed.
- Positive collaborative attitude
- Meticulous, dependable, organized, forward thinking, initiative-taking, and approachable.
- Comfortable learning new tasks and using new tools.

- Knows and is familiar with products, allergens, and ingredients.

- Preparing coffee drinks by following recipes and preparation techniques
- Ability to educate customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink options while answering their questions.
- Utilizing coffee grinding and brewing equipment.
- Maintaining inventories by replenishing coffee bean and cold brew keg supply
- Keeping equipment functioning by following operating instructions,
- Troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, assisting with performing preventive maintenance.
- Maintaining a safe and clean work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations
- Stocking and restocking of snack products.
- Quality Assurance/control inspection of products including but not limited to dry goods, beverages, perishable produce, coffee, dairy and more.
Sample Daily Workflow
Coffee Machine Services:
- Replenish coffee beans
- Remove the hopper to refill the beans
- Replenish Powders
- Reset waste bin
- Run Rinse Cycles
- Clean machine inside and out
- Brush off soluble caps/brew chamber
- Wipe down machine on the outside- empty drip tray
Inventory tasks/storage room:
- Properly store all inventory
- Dry goods stocked properly in the storage room
- FIFO- stock rotation
- Ensure that all refrigerated products are stored in the appropriate refrigeration
- Break down cardboard boxes, take out trash & recycling
- Keep the stockroom always neat & organized
- Make list of items needed for next delivery and send it in before noon
Water machine services:
- Empty drip trays if water is collecting
- Reattach drip tray if it was removed
- Clean machine and wipe down the outside
Snack services:
- While the porter is doing their morning kitchen services, they should be taking note of what snacks are low in each kitchen
- Restock the snack bins with the proper products
- Stock snacks while practicing FIFO
- Always stock from the back to the front
- Make sure package labels are visible
- Remove any expired products from the kitchens
Fruit Service:
- Distribute all types of fruit to each kitchen on every floor
- Quality check the fruit before distributing out- do not put out any damaged fruit
- Make sure the fruit bowls are full in each kitchen, but do not overfill
- Every Friday afternoon remove the fruit from the floors & properly sort for donations
Expired Products:
- Return any expired products to the storage room to then be counted
- Properly separate the products into bins
- Notify the solutions desk of the expired products
- The expired product will return to the Warehouse
Daily Tasks
Start Time to Lunch break
- Brew coffee for all floors
- After coffee is brewed. Check all coffee machines to make sure everything is operational
- Empty the waste bin and run a rinse cycle on each coffee machine
- Replenish coffee products- sugars/creamers
- Replenish the coffee machines- beans and powders if needed.
- Check Kegs on all floors
- If Kegs need replenishment, submit a ticket to the solutions desk.
- Take all snack service pictures when our operating partner has completed service.
Post Lunch - End of Shift
- Continue coffee machine services if unable to complete in the morning
- Check all coffee pods and refill. If needed
- Replenish snack bins throughout each kitchen on designated floors While practicing FIFO
- Replenish cups, sugars/creamers
- Organize and clean the stockroom. Remove trash and cardboard.
