The Hardware Test Engineer performs a wide variety of complex technical tasks related to the support of product development and test of products. In doing this the Hardware Test Engineer follows established processes to ensure the product is properly tested to the requirements specified. This is a senior level position where work is distinguished by its technical complexity and diversity, requiring minimal direction and no direct supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Independently estimate and complete work assignments in a timely manner.
- Provide recommendations and follow established testing processes and procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring that all products meet quality and customer performance standards.
- The Senior Hardware Test Engineer is responsible for the following:
- Designs test procedures and assists in the evaluation of test equipment required to perform quality checks
- Prepares recommendations for testing and documentation of procedures to be used from design phase through initial production
- Lead in the construction of test fixtures
- Provide training to Production Testing Staff
- Lead environmental and electro-magnetic interference qualification testing
- Work effectively with others in a collaborative team environment.
- Some travel may be required.

- Proficient programming skills utilizing LabView or Visual C++ for testing aviation electronics
- Proficient in RF measurements, setup, debug and programming of RF equipment
- Experience with remote control of test equipment with IEEE-488 GPIB, Ethernet or serial interfaces
- Experience with hands on automation
- Experience with AutoCAD or OrCAD
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to details, highly organized, computer literae
- Ability to analyze requirements and specifications in order to evaluate test equipment needs
- Ability to work with internal and external customers and vendors to resolve test problems
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or CS Degree with 5-7 years of related experience
Computer Skills
Proficient with personal computers and computer operating systems.
Thorough understanding of complex equipment such as Vibration table/amplifier, lightning injection equipment, etc.?
Solid understanding of Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope and Logic Analyzer usage.
Ability to apply understanding of version control systems.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to apply understanding of mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry).
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to assimilate information from diverse sources to form a complete situational picture and develop a plan of action to accomplish a task.
- Ability to use process of elimination when diagnosing problems.
