Heritage Pointe, Fort Wayne is seeking an experienced medical records professional to join our valued team. Our medical records position is responsible for working closely with the DON to support the medical records, staff development, infection prevention, and other nursing management responsibilities of the location. The medical records position is responsible for electronic health record audits, vaccinations, staff education tracking, infection prevention program support, and compliance reporting. The medical records position will participate in on call rotation, will adhere to deadlines and complete tasks with a high degree of detail and accuracy.
Essential Job Functions
- Audit EHR admission documentation, discharge documentation, assessments, and administration records for completion. Correct orders and/or notify staff nurses of corrections and follow up for compliance.
- Obtain consent for vaccinations. Update EHR with orders and tracking.
- Lead staff development program including assigning, scheduling, and tracking staff education. Push out and maintain pop up education as needed.
- Support the infection prevention program and collaborate with other members of the nursing management team.
- Complete National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) reports and other compliance reporting.
- Support and serve as back up to social service functions.
- Participate in on call rotation.
Job Qualifications
- Medical Record experience preferred.
- Prior experience in long-term care preferred.
- Demonstrated advanced competence with Microsoft Excel and an enterprise level electronic health record application.
- Attention to detail with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects.
