**Job Overview:**
We are seeking a skilled Driver Manager to oversee our transportation operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in logistics and transportation management to ensure efficient and effective delivery operations. It is essential that candidates are self-starters with excellent written and verbal communication skills who enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. **Responsibilities:**
- Development of driver routes based on customer pickup and delivery schedules.
- Manage fleet requests for production, maintenance, and home time.
- Continual review of inbound/outbound freight, empty/committed truck statuses and trailer availability to maximize asset utilization.
- Coordinate to guarantee the highest level of efficiency, customer support, and driver contentment.
- Exceed customer’s on-time service requirements.
- Maintain high asset utilization to ensure profitability including deadhead, rate per mile, and revenue per truck.
- Use negotiation skills to supplement customer freight with brokered loads.
- Manage freight within the required HOS regulations and DOT regulations.
- Assist with other various duties to ensure Operations success.
- On-call every third week after hours for emergencies only.
- Monitor revenue per vehicle and on-time performance of KPI's to maintain vehicle profitability and be responsible for handling performance issues, as deemed appropriate by the Driver Manager.
- Communicate with his/her fleet of drivers regularly to increase driver engagement and productivity and address personnel matters as they arise
- Develop driver work schedules and confirm adherence
- Monitor ETAs, PTAs, and additional dispatch information
- Ensure daily communication with each driver in the TMS system to ensure accurate execution of the plan
**Previous Experience Needed:**
- Prior experience in a managerial role within the transportation or logistics industry
- Proficiency in using transportation management software and GPS systems
- Strong analytical skills to assess delivery performance and identify areas for improvement
- Excellent communication skills to interact with drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders
- Familiarity with phone systems for effective communication within the team
**Preferred KSA's:**
- Knowledge of DOT regulations including hours of services rules with ability to incorporate rules into daily shipment planning.
- Knowledge of national, regional, and metropolitan geography and roadways.
- Ability to navigate through multiple computer systems.
- Ability to work in stressful situations.
- Ability to provide effective planning to maximize service and financial performance.
- Ability to communicate with internal and external customers and business partners in a professional and respectful manner.
- Ability to provide detailed instruction to various personnel via email and phone.
- Ability to develop relationships with team members, drivers, management, and internal and external business partners.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Knowledge and experience with transportation management systems a plus.
