Title: Physical Therapy Aide (PTA) Department: Therapy Services
General summary
Responsible for administering physical therapy modalities of treatment under the direction of a Physical Therapist. Maintains productivity within expected parameters.
Duties and responsibilities
1. The PTA is responsible for the treatment of patients who demonstrate disorders of the musculoskeletal deficiencies, neurological conditions, balance disorders and transfer/gait deficits as prescribed by a licensed physician.
2. The PTA is responsible for the completion of all necessary documentation, including treatment forms, daily notes and discharge summaries.
3. The PTA is responsible for attending all required facility meetings and in services, including family meetings, care plans and in services.
4. The PTA will support the program manager in developing programs appropriate to the needs of the patients, to assist them in achieving their highest feasible level of functioning.
5. The PTA will practice in accordance with facility policy and procedure, and in accordance with all applicable regulatory agency and professional standards.
6. The PTA will represent her/himself in a professional manner at all times including professional conduct, professional communication and appropriate dress while in the facility.
Educational requirements
1. Must have graduated from an accredited school with an Associate Degree in Physical Therapy.
2. Current State Certification
Experience
Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant clinical experience preferred
Specific requirements
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of hire
Physical Therapist will report directly to the Rehab Director who is responsible for overseeing direct clinical skills, documentation skills, and compliance to all professional standards. A review of the performance will be conducted on a yearly basis.
