Assistant Teacher
Holy Child Academy seeks a dynamic professional who wishes to assistant teach in a thriving independent Catholic school for grades Nursery through eight, providing outstanding academic, performing arts, and athletic programs for a diverse community. Entering its 96th year, HCA is poised to grow and meet the needs of children and families who desire a joyful, creative, rigorous, faith-based community.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the lead teachers in various classrooms. This part time educator will be committed to a holistic approach to education. He or she will place a high value on the distinctive opportunities offered in independent schools, and will welcome the opportunity to advance the mission and philosophy of Holy Child Academy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and implementing curriculum
- Assist in managing the classroom
- Instruct children in small and large groups
- Provide individualized support during instructional times
- Participate in in-house meetings as needed
- Maintain a professional stance with students and parents and follow the classroom teachers' lead in all discussions relating to students
- Supervise outside playground activities
- Supervise the classroom when the teacher is out of the room
- Assist with general housekeeping and classroom tasks, preparing materials as needed, and supporting technology needs
- Attend staff meetings and recommended professional development
- Participate in the morning, lunch/recess and afternoon duties as needed
Essential Qualifications:
- Experience working in an educational setting (early childhood level preferred)
- Ability to work collaboratively to enhance curriculum, program, and community
- Strong verbal skills with students, colleagues, and parents
- Strong ability to multitask, complete assignments, and keep to a schedule
- Commitment to professional development and best practices in education
- Outstanding organizational skills
- High energy and creativity
- Clearances required: FBI Fingerprinting, PA State Police Clearance, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Act 168 disclosure releases from former employers
Preferred Qualifications:
