Avantor is looking for a dedicated Facilities Engineer to join our Biopharma team, supporting building and equipment related maintenance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This role will be a full-time position based out of our Devens, MA facility. You will have the opportunity to be a leader within a dynamic production environment. If you have strong technical skills and supervisory experience – let’s talk!
What we’re looking for
- Education: Associates degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Experience: Minimum 5 years related hands-on experience with building/facilities engineering
- 1 year of which should be in a demonstrated Leadership / Supervisory capacity
- Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Applied maintenance experience in a GMP manufacturing environment preferred (cleanroom / pharma environment)
- Any one or combintation of: Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certification, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) certification, and or electrical certification
How you will thrive and create an impact
- Manages the maintenance of the building, grounds, equipment, and plant facilities, including the pesticide program, security, and waste disposal
- Prepares work schedules, assigns, and oversees the work product while minimizing overtime and call-in hours
- Trains, coaches, and manages performances of direct reports
- Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance schedule program for applicable equipment and machinery
- Manages the program for inspection of mechanical integrity, change control, fire suppression and environmental control
- Arranges for and manages appropriate third-party contractor support as needed
- Enforces sound safety and housekeeping practices
- Provide operational support by managing the installation, start-up and validation of new process equipment and systems
- Monitors spending to ensure operating within that budget with regard to the expenses for maintenance supplies, operating supplies, tools and personnel
- Develops corrective/preventive action plans as prompted by internal and external quality data
- Interacts with customers, technicians, and vendors to understand and communicate process specifications with engineering and operations
- Responsible for routine manufacturing equipment set-ups and changes as required
- Implements and maintains appropriate process controls and records consistent with cGMP and ISO regulations
- Order, re-stock and maintain the inventory of spare parts, consumables, tools and miscellaneous supplies
- Strong time management skills
- Maintain and apply excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Flexible to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Maintain other department equipment as needed
