Description:
Job Purpose:
To polish and grind metal items after all other machining operations are complete and meet the established rates of production.
Essential Functions:

Polish and/or grind metal forgings by holding parts against grinding wheel, wire brush or belt sander to bring forging to finished appearance.

Applies abrasive compound, wax, or other dressing to facilitate polishing operation.

Perform necessary replacement and balancing of polishing wheels and belts and performs necessary adjustments of tension.

Completes the appropriate routing sheet and inputs data entry information in a timely manner.
Additional Responsibilities:

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
-
One (1) to three (3) months of related experience or on-the-job training.
Physical:
-
Must be able to stand at equipment for 8 hours or more per day
-
Must be able to use both hands to finger, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms.
-
Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds and move up to 100 pounds.
-
Must have close vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus on work.
-
Employees will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes or airborne particles, high noise levels, and vibration to hands.

Employees will be required to wear hearing protection, safety glasses and foot protection.
Mental:

Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple written and verbal instructions.

Must be able to perform mathematical skills such as: addition, subtractions, multiplication, and division of all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; and ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Must have the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
