POSITION SUMMARY:
The Planner is responsible for translating customer requirements into a work order (traveler) suitable for building a finished product. Learn our circuit board manufacturing process and apply that knowledge to creating consistent, detailed, and accurate work orders. Learn, utilize, and improve on the existing job planning process and workflow. Assist with further automation of the process including new feature development and implementation in the job planning software. Use knowledge gained from the planning process to assist production management and to improve process quality. Your primary responsibility is to make sure that production has all the information it needs, in a clear and consistent format, to build a quality product to specification. Following that you will use feedback from production to continuously improve that information and the work order planning process.
Expectations:
- Reads and interprets customer drawings, specifications, and CAD files and translates them into a finished work order with all necessary production steps indicated.
- Use knowledge of the PCB manufacturing process, meticulous attention to detail, and job planning software to create accurate production work orders.
- Use knowledge of software and problem-solving ability to further configure and improve the job planning process, templates, workflow, and tools.
- After achieving mastery of the planning process, move to 50% time in manufacturing process improvement and in process quality.
- Maintain a safe, neat, and orderly workplace.
- Be knowledgeable of and follow company policies and procedures, including all health and safety requirements.
- Other job duties may be assigned.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor's Degree prefered
- 5+ years of experience in planning or multiple other roles in a PCB factory
- Some work experience or coursework in computer programming/scripting and a general interest in using and configuring software for problem solving.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001
- Printed circuit board experience.
- Ability to use CAD software such as CAM350 or similar.
- Knowledge of IPC standards regarding printed circuit boards, manufacturing experience, electrical engineering experience or classes, SQL query design, knowledge of lean manufacturing, advanced Excel knowledge
- Bi-lingual English and Spanish is a plus.
- Knowledge of plating related chemistry and chemical safety preferred.

- General familiarity with all steps needed to produce a finished PCB, what the steps are for, what order they need to occur in, and how they relate to each other.
- Ability to read and interpret customer drawings and specifications and translate them into work order requirements.

- Can read and comprehend dense manufacturing and engineering specifications.
- Enjoys work variety, learning new things, and directly applying that knowledge.
- Willing to work ‘hands-on’ in a factory environment.
- Good at organizing, analyzing, and presenting information.
