SFMCOIP currently operates four clinic sites in San Francisco and is looking for an energetic dynamic person with good organizational and interpersonal skills to work as a Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant may have responsibility for all aspects of care delivered by the front office and back office staff. When performing duties as a Medical Assistant, this position will be responsible for assisting the physician/provider with all general medicine or specialized medical practice duties under the general supervision of the physician, mid-level provider, clinical supervisor and or clinical manager. When performing Front Office duties, this position will function as an interface with patients, provider staff, and health plans to obtain information relating to patients; facilitating the collection and dissemination of information to the medical record and information system.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A certificate of completion in a certified Medical Assistant training program.
- Board Certification as a Medical Assistant, obtained within 2 years of appointment
- At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting
- Phlebotomy certification as required by CA Business and Professions Code 2070; Current certification in CPR/Basic Life Support; and Infection control training as required, per 1983 CDC guidelines.
- A strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to use office equipment and materials safely.
- The ability to relate with sensitivity to a diverse multi-ethnic, culturally and economically diverse clientele. Must be comfortable with people in all stages of health and healing.
- Computer proficiency with electronic medical records software preferably NextGen, MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as an ability to learn new programs with ease.
- Bilingual Chinese - Cantonese and/or Mandarin preferred.
- Possess exceptional communication and customer service skills, strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage a great number of details including setting appropriate expectations for patients and staff, and multi-task with strong follow through are mandatory.
- Ability to take initiative, learn quickly and actively participate as part of a health care/administrative team also mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate issues and suggest strategies to address and/or improve those issues.
Supervisory Responsibilities: May be required to supervise other Medical Assistants/students
