Design & Construction Services role is to support the University's strategic plan through the design and construction of new and renovated facilities. We are committed to innovation, quality and value while being stewards of the University's valuable resources as we focus on the mission of UCI's brilliant future.
Assists unit efforts to ensure University design and construction policy effectively supports and advances the goals of its capital program, in conformance with all applicable state and federal codes and regulations.Provides analytical and administrative support to the Campus project management team. Assists with submittals, work plans and schedules. Tracks critical dates for project management team. Schedules meetings and takes meeting minutes. Daily interaction with the Contractor and consultants. Must understand principles of document control and be able to implement systems and procedures as required. Supports unit to provide technical advice related to design and construction. Exercises judgment on issues of moderate scope and complexity, selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria within established standards and guidelines.
Responsibilities:

Working knowledge of planning, design and construction procedures, industry practices and all phases of a building’s project development. Required

Demonstrated understanding of contract documents related to the design and construction industry. Required

Working knowledge of a University organization, including its infrastructure, rules, regulations, policies and short and long range strategic building plans. Preferred

Proficient analytical, organizational and problem recognition / avoidance / resolution skills. Required

Proven written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including and well developed political acumen. Required

Demonstrated team building and facilitation skills. Required

Thorough knowledge and operating proficiency with all current versions of AutoCAD Computer Software. Required

Demonstrated ability with organizing tasks, setting priorities and maintaining aggressive schedules. Required

Thorough knowledge and understanding of construction drawing systems, coordination and presentation. Required
