Senior Accountant
We are looking for an analytical SeniorAccountant with 5 years of related accounting experience to join the team at our New York Corporate office. In addition to supporting the financial accounting function, the candidate has the opportunity to work directly with the Accounting Managers and VP Accounting to further implement processes and procedures after recently going through implementation of Microsoft dynamics D365 BC and BlueCherry ERP systems.
To succeed as the Senior Accountant, you should be detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated with strong problem-solving ability. You should be a skilled and thorough researcher with excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Accounting Managers, VP Accounting and CFO in any finance matters.
- Demonstrate appropriate understanding/working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls
- Analyze data to ensure proper accounting procedures have been followed
- Maintain reconciliations for GL accounts and investigate and explain variances between (Dynamics and BlueCherry)
- Collaborate and work with accounting team on AR and AP side, and act as research and advise on coding and make sure invoices are processing timely, accurate and complete.
- Identify key areas for improvement. Implement and document controls and processes to increase efficiency.
- Post and review journal entries, be skeptical and assess evidence before posting to verify purpose of entry and debit/credit are accurate.
- Major responsible areas can include inventory, revenue, cash, accounts receivable/payable.
- Prepare various audit, financial statement schedules, and other management requests.
- Support finance team and collaborate with other internal/external parties on ad hoc reporting, analyses, and projects.
Job Requirements:
- At least 5 years of related experience. Public accounting experience is a plus
- Degree in accounting. CPA License a plus.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Pivots, etc) is a MUST
- Highly adaptable to accounting systems and evolving processes.
- Ability to offer solutions through independent learning and problem solving
- Attention to detail, strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to build relationships with internal and external contacts.
- Self-motivated and cable of handling multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience with BlueCherry ERP, and Microsoft Dyanmics 365 Business Central is a plus.
