Pacific Beach Presbyterian Church Preschool – Preschool Teacher
We are a Christian Preschool looking for a full time, fully qualified teacher to work in the 3 year old classroom. We believe that children learn best in a developmental environment and we value the ideas and interests of the children. Applicants should be passionate about early childhood education and have a love for supporting the children’s natural curiosities, questions, and creative minds.
We are seeking applicants who have experience working with young children and are dedicated to providing high quality education and care. Applicants should be excited to collaborate with others, understand developmentally appropriate practice and have a desire to further their professional education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respect and honor the needs of the individual child with concern for his/her interests, special needs, talents, individual style and pace of learning
- Consider individual children in relationship to their cultural and socioeconomic background
- Maintain positive communication with children, staff and families
- Must be enthusiastic, patient, nurturing and dependable
- Treat children with dignity
- Flexible in working with others in a variety of circumstances
- Participate in staff meetings, recommended training programs, conferences, courses and other aspects of professional growth
- Participate in events sponsored by the school but not limited to; Christmas program, Open House, Harvest Festival, Gala and school fundraisers
- Able to sit on the floor, kneel or crouch down to assist children’s needs
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements to Apply:
Completed 12 ECE units (which include the following classes):
- Child/Human Growth & Development
- Child, Family, and Community
- Curriculum Development (Reggio Emilia Approach, early childhood art, music and movement, language arts, math, and science etc.)
AA or higher degree (preferred)
Previous experience in a licensed preschool or early development center
Requirements upon hire:
- Fingerprint Background Clearance, proof of immunizations, proof of completion of Mandated Reporter training (CA Licensing) and cleared TB test to work in a Licensed Child Care Facility
Pay is based on experience and education - Generous paid time off (6 weeks holiday pay and 2 weeks PTO)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
