Join our team as a Porter / Make Ready Technician, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation of our 200+ unit apartment community in Houston’s Willowbrook area. Reporting directly to the Lead Maintenance, this position entails assisting with and performing maintenance operations, including preventive maintenance, repairs, landscaping, and minor janitorial services. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the community while maximizing resident satisfaction. Qualifications:
- Entry level position any experience in construction or facilities repairs.
- Experience performing basic plumbing and electrical maintenance and repairs, small painting jobs, and carpentry work a plus.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., including up and down a flight of stairs.
- Pool maintenance experience is a plus.
- Willing to work some flexible hours / days; some weekends maybe required.
- Valid Driver’s License preferred
- Bilingual / fluent in both English and Spanish is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs maintenance tasks personally and helps the maintenance team.
- Completes work orders within 24 hours when possible.
- Monitors and is aware of the property condition throughout the community to address hazardous conditions; e.g., broken pool gates, broken steps, open holes, broken/burned out exterior lights.
- Diagnoses and performs on a daily basis minor and routine maintenance/repair involving the following: minor drywall repairs, painting, cleaning, pool cleaning, checking the grounds for trash and debris.
- Ensures that all make-ready repairs and services are completed correctly and on schedule.
- Reports all major repairs and requisitions to the lead maintenance.
- Remove and transfer heavy appliances and equipment.
- Assists in moving abandoned furniture, appliances, etc., to dumpster when necessary.
- Performs work area clean-up and safety related duties.
- Ensures that storage areas remain locked when not in use.
- Assists in keeping grounds neat and free of litter. Rakes, sweeps, shovels as circumstances warrant.
- Performs any additional duties assigned by manager or property supervisor.
JOB TYPE:
Full-time. 40 hours per week, occasionally overtime and on-call work
- Monday to Friday. 9 AM to 6 PM.
- On-call rotation for weekends, etc.
PAY:
Hourly: Starting from $15 per hour + commissions! Depending on experience.
