The Medical Office Scheduler/ Receptionist works each morning as the receptionist in our Ambulatory Surgery Center, then transitions into a scheduler role for the remainder of the workday and covers as needed as a receptionist in one of our two clinic locations. Northwest Gastroenterology Clinic was established in 1986 and is one of the oldest gastroenterology practices in the Northwest. Our clinic is independently owned and operated by our group of physicians.

Responsibilities/Function:
Our medical schedulers play a vital role in the care we provide to our patients, they keep us running efficiently while providing compassionate and kind care. Some tasks include:
- Arranging and managing appointments over the phone for office visits and procedures at one of our locations or at local hospitals.
- Ensuring smooth communication between patients and healthcare providers through effective use of the EPIC system and other applications.
- Assisting patients with registration, and ensuring the collection of accurate and complete information.
- Working collaboratively with other departments to facilitate great patient care and provide patients with scheduling solutions.
Our receptionists are the first friendly faces for patients in our facilities. They have the important task of welcoming our patients and ensuring they have a smooth visit by:
- Checking in patients for their appointments and verifying demographic and insurance information.
- Collecting co-pays and other payments, issuing receipts, and balancing the cash drawer at the end of the day.
- Answering and directing incoming phone calls in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ensuring the waiting area is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary materials.
- Coordinating with other departments to manage patient flow and minimize wait times.
General Qualifications and Experience
- Medical terminology, keyboarding and filing skills, word processing experience, good grammar and vocabulary skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and oral instructions and written and oral communication skills that enable effective relationships with patients, physicians, and employees.
- Skilled in using courteous and professional in-person and telephone manners.
- Easily adaptable to change and enjoys working in a fast-paced medical environment.
Education and Training
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- One-year customer service experience
- One-year receptionist or scheduling experience preferred
Schedule/Hours
- This position is 4 days a week/10 hours each day. 6:00 am – 4:30 pm.
- Fridays off
- No weekends or holidays!
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
