Line Cook Job Summary:
The Line Cook is responsible for accomplishing daily kitchen tasks and responsibilities as delegated, ranging from food prep, production, dishwashing, quality control, customer service, and general contribution to the overarching success of the kitchen. The line cooks report directly to the Kitchen Manager. Success in this role requires excellent teamwork, good listening skills and an ability to gainfully contribute to the business’s success.
Line Cook Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepares various food items for cooking in ovens, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment.
- Assumes 100% responsibility for the quality of products served.
- Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.
- Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to ensure a smooth service period.
- Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
- Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation area, including tables, shelves, grills, fryers, convection oven, and refrigeration equipment.
- Prepares items for grilling, frying, or other cooking methods by portioning, seasoning and/or marinating.
- Follows proper plate presentation and garnish setup for all dishes.
- Handles, stores, and rotates all products properly.
- Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.
- Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assists others in closing the kitchen.
- Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager and all other theatre management.
Line Cook Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
- At least 6 months of experience in a similar capacity.
- Be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of the restaurant’s trading area.
- A dedication to excellent customer service, a strong working knowledge of food safety, and a brisk working pace.
- Ability to receive and maintain inventory, which involves routinely lifting heavy boxes daily.
- Highly organized professional, work ethic with a solid hands-on approach.
- Enthusiasm for helping others, whether it is the customers and neighborhood we serve or fellow teammates.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 6 hours).
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
