At P.S. 155, we are currently looking for an enthusiastic dual language teacher to serve our scholars of East Harlem. The dual language teacher is responsible for creating a dual-language immersion (Spanish) classroom environment that ensures learning and personal growth of every student; establishing effective rapport with students; motivating students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for becoming a responsible citizen in accordance with each pupil’s ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members. The position requires that the educator develops, promotes, and implements curriculum and projects that will help prepare our scholars to be effective users of technology, ideas, and information into a lifelong skill. The position additionally requires that the educator has an understanding of culturally responsive education and teaching practices.
Duties:
- Knowledge of data-driven and differentiated instructional strategies
- Understanding of ENL and bilingual programs and best practices for English Language Learners (ELLs)
- Provide instruction in literacy education, mathematics, and other specialized areas
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the unique needs of each student
- Collaborate with other educators, parents, and support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Utilize effective classroom management strategies to promote a safe and productive learning environment
- Monitor student progress and make necessary adjustments to instructional strategies as needed
- Use technology and other resources to enhance student learning experiences
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
- New York State Teaching certification or license
- Bilingual License or Extension
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $61,070.00 - $128,657.00 per year
