Position Overview
The Job Site Foreman for Underground Utilities is responsible for overseeing the installation and maintenance of underground utility systems, including water, sewer, and storm drain pipelines. This role involves managing a team of workers, coordinating with project managers and engineers, and ensuring that all work complies with project specifications and safety regulations. The Foreman plays a critical role in maintaining project schedules, ensuring quality work, and promoting a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management: Oversee daily operations on the job site, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and evaluate a crew of workers, including pipe layers, laborers, and equipment operators.
- Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and inspectors to plan and execute project tasks efficiently.
- Quality Control: Inspect work to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site.
- Scheduling: Develop and manage daily and weekly work schedules, ensuring adequate resource allocation.
- Problem Solving: Identify and resolve issues that arise during construction, such as unexpected obstacles or technical challenges.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered.
- Client Relations: Communicate with clients and stakeholders to provide updates on project progress and address any concerns.
Qualifications
- Experience: Extensive experience in underground utility construction, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of underground utility installation techniques, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in construction management or a related field is a plus.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as OSHA safety training, First Aid/CPR, and utility installation certifications are preferred.
