Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate PRN Nurse to join our Behavioral Health team. The ideal candidate will provide medication training to staff and clients, ensuring the safe and effective administration of medications. This role is critical in supporting the mental health and well-being of our clients through education and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Medication Training: Conduct comprehensive medication training sessions for staff and clients, covering proper administration, potential side effects, and safety protocols.
- Client Education: Provide individualized education to clients regarding their medication regimens, including the importance of adherence, managing side effects, and understanding the purpose of each medication.
- Support and Consultation: Act as a resource for staff and clients, answering questions and providing guidance related to medication management.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all training sessions and educational materials provided.
- Compliance: Ensure all training and practices comply with state and federal regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the clinical team to develop and update training materials and programs to reflect current best practices and new medications.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide support in crisis situations, including medication management and de-escalation techniques.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with best practices in behavioral health and medication management.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN) from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of [Insert State].
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
- Training: Experience in providing medication training and education preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Advanced certifications in behavioral health nursing preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Environment: This position will primarily work in a behavioral health setting, with some travel to different sites as needed.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform other physical tasks as required.
- Schedule: Flexible hours, with the need to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
