JOB PURPOSE:
The Quality Manager has the authority, independence and means to develop the Quality Management System and ensure the application of this standard throughout OFS Norcross. Actively communicate and participate in a continuous improvement culture providing recommendations and implementing enhancements to current methods, policies, and procedures.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Degree from an accredited institution in a related field or a B.S. in Engineering
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
3 or more years in a managerial role
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications)
- Maintains and continues to develop professional and technical knowledge by participating in training, seminars, and benchmarking best practices
- Develop, train and audit on best practices to ensure employee performance and development.
- Drives cross functional leadership to ensure a culture of quality
- Determine the optimal structure for the Norcross Quality team.
- Develop and train Quality Engineers and manage their day to day work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop quality roadmap in alignment with business goals and objectives
- Initiate, facilitate, and lead cross functional teams for structured problem solving and corrective/preventative actions utilizing various quality tools
- Ensure improvement effort follow through documentation and communication of best practices and lessons learned
- Objectively review and qualify product or process data
- Lead quality planning for new product introduction (NPI) projects or changed processes to ensure risks and opportunities are addressed prior to moving to full scale production
- Support ongoing quality systems needs surrounding nonconforming material, document change requests, Supplier Corrective action system, training, audits, and RMA system
- Monitor in-process and final testing and inspection activities. Track and adjust quality control checks of critical processes in production using statistical data and reports to ensure product requirements are fulfilled
- Lead maintenance of ISO registration through participation in periodic surveillance and certification audits, and the internal audit program
- Lead quality system training requirements of personnel: provide classroom-type or on-the-job training when needed. Work with Plant HR Manager to maintain training records
- Support returned RMA program from receipt of the returns to closure. Facilitate inspections, containment activities, investigations, dispositions, and communication with the customers all in a timely manner
- Support Supplier Nonconformance Reporting program including investigations, disposition, and action plan development by partnering with operations and engineering teams
- Other quality functions as determined necessary by business or customer or customer need
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- The person must have or be willing to gain working knowledge of quality management systems, ISO 9001 requirements, Lean Principles, Six Sigma, and proficient knowledge of statistics
- Familiarity with continuous process manufacturing
- Strong hands on experience with problem solving and related tools
- Strong oral and written communication skills Understanding of fiber optics manufacturing and inspection
- Ability to direct and lead cross-functional process improvement teams
- Strong understanding of manufacturing technologies, processes, and accepted good manufacturing practices
