Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to students and staff in a school setting
- Assess and evaluate the health needs of students and develop individualized care plans
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers
- Monitor and manage chronic health conditions, such as asthma or diabetes
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide basic life support if necessary
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for students
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to promote a healthy school environment
- Educate students on health-related topics, such as hygiene and nutrition
- Follow HIPAA regulations to ensure the privacy and security of student health information
Requirements:
- Valid RN license in the state of [location]
- Experience working as a nurse in a healthcare or educational setting preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and body systems
- Proficiency in basic life support techniques
- Ability to perform venipuncture for blood draws if required
- Strong assessment skills to evaluate student health needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with students, parents, and staff members
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in emergency situations
