Trayer Products, Inc., established in 1929, manufactures and supplies precision steel bar products to OEM automotive, heavy truck, construction, mining, aerial work platform, and agricultural equipment industries, as well as replacement parts for aftermarket applications.
We are an independently owned, IATF 16949 certified manufacturer with a fully integrated metalworking facility featuring conventional and CNC machining, centerless and form grinding, drilling, milling, broaching, and welding processes. Our plant also includes a comprehensive heat treating operation.
Trayer Products is currently seeking a Materials Manager
We are seeking a skilled Materials Manager to oversee the procurement, inventory management, and production planning processes. The ideal candidate will have expertise in supply chain management and demand planning, ensuring efficient material flow to support operations.
Responsibilities:
· Organize, direct and manage all activities in Purchasing, Production Planning and Inventory Control so that customer requirements are met in a timely fashion.
· Oversee all Purchasing functions to ensure that resources (i.e. -raw material, tooling and other MRO items Outside Service providers) needed to meet Customer orders are available.
· Hands on responsibility for all steel and other raw material purchases.
· Advise on Vendor selection decisions.
· Review and maintain Supplier Performance metrics.
· Contribute to decision making concerning procurement of inventory, including source and quantity, and also in the use of alternate material to meet customer demand.
· Review and recommend changes in factory work hours, staffing levels and problem areas to meet deadlines and frequently changing priorities.
· Manage and control all inventory levels from raw material to finished products using computer tools as well as physical verification.
· Direct and manage the integration of new products into the production schedule without impacting the flow of existing products.
· Advise manufacturing departments of changes which could affect on-time delivery and expedite operations that delay planned production schedules.
· Provide direct supervision of all Production Planners and Buyers/Purchasing Agents
· Interact with Customer Service in reacting to customer requests for material outside of the normal manufacturing leadtimes.
· Perform analysis of manufacturing orders closed with a significant cost discrepancy.
· Establish and maintain work order planning policies to reflect changes in customer demand and report relevant changes to the Sales department.
· Be able to effectively work with others through the use of good inter-personal skills.
· Perform all work in line with plant safety rules
· Provide any other reasonable assignment of duties relative to this work.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field. Candidates must have 5 years minimum experience in production planning/scheduling in a manufacturing environment.
