The Perinatal Behavioral Health Therapist (LCSW) will provide psychotherapy, coordination of care, and mental health services for perinatal women in the Department of Women’s Services with psychological conditions. The LCSW will complete initial assessments for referred pregnant and postpartum women, diagnose mood and anxiety disorders, provide psychotherapy, and/or direct them to appropriate social and psychological services. The LCSW will apply evidenced based treatment to ensure that women receive the appropriate mental and behavioral health interventions as needed.
Ideal candidates will have a Master’s degree in Social Work and has experience in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a broad range of psychiatric conditions.

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Provides outpatient psychotherapy to pregnant and postpartum women in an individual or group setting.
- Assesses, coordinates care, and develops a treatment plan for Health Plan members with psychological or social conditions
- Serve as intake coordinator for positive OB mental health screens, and provides care coordination for the appropriate services, and referrals for these patients
- Effectively manages and coordinates assigned caseload consistent with established criteria. Completes comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic evaluations to determine diagnosis of mental and/or behavioral health diagnoses. Assess patient goals, social support systems, resources, health status, functional limitations, psychological status, and environmental factors to make a treatment plan. Assess patient’s response to treatment to decrease inappropriate utilization of medical service
- Collaborates with the Perinatal Service Center members and OB providers to relay patient diagnoses, strengths, and barriers to care to ensure access to appropriate medical treatment throughout pregnancy and postpartum
- Ensures consistent and reliable documentation of therapeutic treatment and care coordination in compliance with all organizational standards
- Collaborates with the Behavioral Health Department providers as needed for peer consultation regarding differential diagnoses, best practice, departmental resources, and programs available to patients. Refers to the Behavioral Health Department for patients who are out of scope of practice, and/or require a higher level of care as needed for acute and complex mental health conditions.
- Reports safety concerns to mandated reporting agencies
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Social Work.
- Must be familiar with DSM-5-TR as a means of diagnosis
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations, and professional board standards as is related to member treatment, patient rights, and member/patient confidentiality
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment
- Previous clinical responsibility to include crisis intervention, individual, couple, family, and group psychotherapy
- Experience working with pregnant and postpartum women (required)
