Moran Assistant Superintendent of Human ResourcesSUBJECT: Special Education Coordinator Inclusive Learning K-5It is requested that the following information be brought to the attention of all teaching and administrative personnel in the Brockton Public Schools.Qualifications: 1.MA DESE Certification as an Administrator of Special Education.2.At least five years of successful teaching and/or leadership experience in the administration of Special Education for students included in general education classes.3.Thorough working knowledge of disabilities including best practices in accommodations, modifications, adaptations, and specialized instruction.4.Proficiency with MA Curriculum Frameworks and district curriculum programs/ADL skills.5.Experience and knowledge of MCAS Portfolio Assessment.6.Experience in creating and providing professional development.7.Strong leadership skills in organization, developing goals, best instructional practices, communication, problem solving, and collaboration.Duties and Responsibilities: 1.Supervise and evaluate special education staff assigned to support students with disabilities in general education classrooms and programs.2.Supervise and monitor the implementation of classroom instruction and student learning within the general education classrooms and programs for students with disabilities in general education classes.3.Facilitate the inclusion of students with disabilities in general education classrooms and programs, as determined by the students Special Education Team.4.Participate in the recruitment and interview process for classroom teaching and support candidates.5.Assist in the compilation of statistical data required by the DESE.6.Conduct staff meetings with special education staff assigned to support students with disabilities in general education classrooms and programs.7.Develop and supervise a smooth transition for eligible students from substantially separate programs into general education classrooms throughout the district. 8.Conduct and coordinate professional development for general education teachers on supporting students with disabilities in general education.
9.Assist in the development of department and building based special education budgets.10.Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Exceptional Learning.Compensation: 1.25 ratio/10 months plus 2 weeksWorkday: 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.Reports to: Assistant Director of Special Education for Elementary Schools Pre K-5Interested candidates should immediately forward a resume, letter of intent, and certifications
