Geneva College invites applications for an adjunct mathematics faculty member in the Department of Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. The position begins August 20, 2024, with possible reappointment for subsequent semesters. This position will remain open, until filled.

Summary of Responsibilities: This position will teach MAT 095 Algebra, which is a developmental mathematics class focused on basic algebraic concepts and skills that underlie college-level mathematics. Teaching will be done in person, and it will be an evening course.
Essential Responsibilities: (These essential responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)
- Teach assigned contact hours per semester.
- Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons (Note: preparation time will vary based on instructor experience in teaching that course).
- Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved syllabus per faculty established guidelines.
- Provide interesting and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting.
- Suitably challenge, engage, support, and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect.
- Provide timely grades to students through college software and upload mid-term and final grades by college deadlines.
- Respond to student questions on a timely basis.
- Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Work with the Department Chair and other MAT 095 instructors to ensure uniform coverage.
- Help students who find mathematics difficult to complete the course.
