The County of San Mateo is currently seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Retirement Technology Officer-SamCERA.
The Position
The Retirement Technology Officer will have full programmatic responsibility for all complex technology and automation functions in SamCERA. They will plan, organize, review, and direct all information technology functions and activities within SamCERA; develop and implement short- and long-range automation tactics and strategies; develop standards and policies; and train and direct assigned personnel.
This position is distinguished from other County information technology manager positions by its full responsibility for multiple technologies utilized in SamCERA and will exercise direct supervision over technical employees. The Retirement Technology Officer will receive general direction from the Assistant Executive Officer.

Challenging aspects of the job:
As the Retirement Technology Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing all technology aspects of a $6.4 billion pension system, which includes but is not limited to, working with multiple vendors and ensuring agreed-upon work is being performed, negotiating IT agreements, keeping up to date on regulatory changes and latest technology trends, managing IT projects and mitigating data security risks.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is seven years of experience, including five years in a management level responsible for managing automated systems, application project and staff.
