The Clinton Early Learning Center is looking for a Part-Time Assistant Teacher for our infant room. We are looking for a person who has experience caring for infants in a professional setting (center-based setting and/or family home care).
The Part-Time Assistant Teacher shall be responsible, under the immediate supervision of the Lead Teacher, for the general supervision and implementation of a daily program for a group of similarly aged children.
Caring for children is done in a way that provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment in which the children can progress in all four areas of development: social/emotional, physical, language, and cognitive. The Assistant Teacher's input shall be considered for overall program planning and evaluation but ultimately lies with the Lead Teacher.
You will be expected to work from 11:30am to 5:30pm (with a 30 minutes unpaid lunch) daily from Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, competent supervision always.
- Applies developmentally appropriate practices that encourage positive health behaviors and support the physical and mental well-being of children and families.
- Creates genuine, supportive relationships with children.
- Helps with the daily routines (including but not limited to diapering, feeding, etc.)
- Knows and follows proper procedures as outlined by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and the program.
- Maintain all required records, files, and paperwork, under the supervision of the Lead Teacher.
- Facilitates children's play to encourage physical, cognitive, language, and social/emotional development.
- Works to effectively and calmly address challenging behavior.
- Receives at least 15 professional development hours each year that meet the New York State Office of Children and Family Services requirements and program requirements.
- Participate in all staff meetings and in-service training.
- Displays professionalism in practice, has evidence of emotional maturity and stability.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, and a desire to advance education in Early Childhood or related field. A College degree in early childhood preferred.
- Must meet the requirements set forth by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. Clearance includes but is not limited to a Criminal Fingerprint Check and approval through the New York State Child Abuse Registry.
- Must have a Tuberculosis test and a physical exam, completed on Clinton Early Learning Center's form before working with children.
- Ability to lift a maximum of 40 pounds.
- CPR & First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain.
- MAT training or willingness to obtain.
