BAE’s Behavior Consultant position is designed for advanced behavior technicians pursuing a career as a BCBA. Supervised experience includes unrestricted behavior analytic hours and is structured within a progressive learning model with coaching, support, and mentorship.
Behavior Consultants expand their clinical experiences while progressing through experience levels under the mentorship and supervision of a BCBA.
Supervised experience as a Behavior Consultant includes opportunities to
- Further expand professional experience across a variety of clients and program designs
- Apply advanced ABA technologies directly into practice across clients and their families
- Practice Behavior Skills Training during parent training and opportunities for training behavior technicians
- Analyze and interpret data, create graphs for visual analysis, and gaining a deeper understanding of the clinical decisions that could be made from the data
- Assist in aspects of functional behavior assessment, skill assessment, and other evaluation tools
- Participate increasingly in treatment planning and progress summary
- Translate comprehensive ABA evaluations into goals and recommendations
Advanced behavior consultants may also be assigned a small supervision caseload in collaboration with a BCBA program manager, involving direct behavior intervention and behavior analytic supervision with a few assigned clients. This supervision model allows for continued advancement of technical skills as well as insights that are gained through direct implementation of the treatment plan.
BAE’s Senior Behavior Consultant position is a continuation of the Behavior Consultant experience. This position requires a Master’s Degree and completion of BCBA coursework.
Senior Behavior Consultants build up to a full caseload that includes program supervision overseen by a BCBA, advanced behavior intervention within direct client services, and parent training.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Possession of a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited University (master’s degree for Senior Behavior Consultant)
- RBT certification
- Minimum of 1 year direct ABA intervention
- Active enrollment in program leading towards BCBA/ BCaBA certification
- Successful completion of 3 ABA courses within approved course sequence
- Meet Initial Competencies
- Program Director recommendation for the behavior consultant position
- Physical requirements such ability to move quickly and engage in physical intervention when needed (includes restraint and client transport). Specifically,
- Ability to lift maximum of 50 pounds
- Repetitive bending/ stooping
- Pushing and pulling
- Prolonged standing, sitting, walking
- Ability to enter data into tablet / computer / phone
