CAREER INSTRUCTOR/CAREER ADVISOR (Part-time)
REPORTS TO: Director of Adult Workforce Education
STARTING DATE: ASAP
HOURLY: $22.00
WORK SCHEDULE: 8:00 am – 3:30 pm/Part Time (Minimum of 2 days per week)

JOB OBJECTIVE:
Auburn Career Center is currently seeking a part time Career Instructor/Career Advisor to work at the Ohio Means Job Geauga County location.
JOB DUTIES:
- Provide employment advising and career services to job seekers. Services provided include: resume development, job search techniques (online and in-person), job application assistance, networking (online and in-person), interview preparation, letter/email writing, salary/wage negotiations, and all other activities associated with employment search needs
- Assess job seekers’ skills, knowledge and abilities to determine employment eligibility and/or training needs
- Make suggestions on how to best prepare for the workplace
- Assist job seekers with identifying open jobs,which they are qualified
- Identify in-demand jobs with career opportunities for job seeker. Assist with job research, wage information, and individual career assessments.
- Follow procedures, make documentations and share information with colleagues and OhioMeansJobs Geauga staff
- Assist OhioMeansJobs Geauga County with special employment projects, including working at off-site locations (such as job fairs, job trainings at libraries, job training sessions at County jail or other locations); and assist OhioMeansJobs Geauga with other duties as assigned
- Administer online basic skills tests, interpret results and communicate results to client
- Attend meetings (on-site and off-site) during non-scheduled hours (on occasion)
- Maintain high level of client confidentiality
- Enter data for county and state organization databases; maintain monthly records
- Arrange appointments, book meeting rooms, assist with on-site job fairs or meetings
- Provide administrative support
- Prepare and present workshops for various topics such as Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); LinkedIn; and Job Readiness Seminars (interview workshops)
- Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance in Career Center; manage bulletin board postings and career services literature
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
- Experience with recruiting/talent acquisition; or job coaching/career development; or similar experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Proficient in Publisher (preferred)
- Be able to obtain a valid Adult Education Permit authorized by the Ohio Department of Education.
- Perform other duties as assigned
