Design Manager
Job Description :
Our company is in search of a self-directed and experienced Design Manager to help execute a variety of architectural projects. The successful candidate will have many years of experience drafting for millwork projects with a deep knowledge base of best practices for construction and installation and varied software experience. They will be responsible for overseeing a small team of drafters—managing their schedules and reviewing their work—while directing improvements to the team's overall process. These tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Reviewing drawings and red lining internally before submittal.
- Assigning drafting tasks to individual employees and monitoring their progress.
- Implementing new standards to the design and record keeping processes.
- Communicating directly with outside parties regarding changes to the work.
- Participating in employee reviews and salary negotiations.
- Hands-on training of employees on software.
- Knowledge sharing with the team as well as other members of the company.
- Troubleshooting issues with designs that have already been released to the floor.
The appropriate candidate will have strong communication skills and a solid work ethic. Candidates must have a teamwork mentality and should be experienced and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
- Must have at least 5 years of millwork experience.
- Advanced AutoCAD experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with MicroVellum is a plus.
- Strong understanding of industry standards and best practices.
- Experience taking site measurements.
- Experience managing a team of 2-5 people.
- Patience and attention to detail.
- Commitment to excellence and quality of work.
- Sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines under pressure and maintain a positive attitude.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
