Come and revolutionize the fully automated fashion production with us.
Welcome to Silana!
At silana, we're rewriting the rules of fashion with cutting-edge robotics. As pioneers in sustainable manufacturing, we've developed groundbreaking technology that automates the entire garment production process – from fabric to finished product.
We are a VC-backed startup with offices in Europe and New York.
As our Systems Integration Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of innovation!
You will be responsible for integrating, testing, and optimizing our robotic cell to ensure it meets our clients' needs and adheres to industry standards. You will work closely with our technical team and founders to develop our product from concept to mass production.
This isn't just a job – it's an opportunity to make a real impact on the future of fashion.
About You - What You'll Do
- Product Integration Oversight: As a hybrid Product Integrator, with a bird's eye view, akin to a product manager and engineer, you'll collaborate closely with the CTO to define technical requirements based on process flowcharts and objectives for our robotic systems. Your role will pivot on ensuring the seamless integration of various subsystems within our products, focusing on functionality, efficiency, and innovation.
- System Integration and Troubleshooting: Leverage your extensive experience to understand how multiple types of systems work together, ensuring robust integration and addressing any issues with adept troubleshooting. Your primary goal is to ensure our robotic cells operate seamlessly within larger systems, enhancing performance and reliability.
- Technical Requirements Specification: Work directly with the CTO to discuss and define technical requirements and system goals, ensuring clarity and feasibility in the design and integration processes. Your expertise will guide the translation of concept into actionable engineering tasks.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Act as the linchpin between the CTO and the mechanical engineering team, ensuring technical requirements are clearly communicated and integrated into design and manufacturing processes. Maintain an open line of communication with all stakeholders, keeping the CTO in the loop on progress and any challenges that arise.
- Supplier and Outsourcing Management: Engage with suppliers and manage external system integrators to ensure the procurement of high-quality components and services, negotiating the best value while overseeing the integration of outsourced subsystems into our solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate system performance to identify improvement opportunities, driving enhancements to increase efficiency, reliability, and functionality of our robotic solutions.
What You Should Bring to the Table - Must Haves
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
- Professional Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in system integration, with a proven track record in robotics, sensor technologies, and troubleshooting complex systems. Prior experience in a startup environment is crucial, with a preference for candidates who have worked across both product integration and engineering disciplines.
- Technical Proficiency: A solid understanding of sensor technologies, firmware programming for closed-loop systems, and expertise in camera and lighting setup for robotic applications. A systemic understanding of how different technologies and components integrate to form cohesive solutions is essential.
- Hands-On Role: This is a hands-on position that requires direct involvement in design, prototyping, and implementation processes rather than a System Architect role. Candidates must be prepared to engage deeply with the physical aspect of our projects.
- Startup Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, with the versatility to handle multiple roles, adapt to changing priorities, and manage projects with agility.
- Communication and Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills, capable of effective negotiation with suppliers, clear articulation of technical requirements to engineering teams, and maintaining transparent communication with all project stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with a knack for innovative solutions to technical challenges and the ability to foresee and address potential system integration issues.
Nice to Have
- Advanced Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages relevant to robotics and automation, such as Python, C++, or ROS, is highly desirable.
- Industry Certifications: Certifications in project management, robotics, or related fields, showcasing a commitment to professional development and expertise in critical areas of technology integration.
- Passion for Robotics: A demonstrated passion for robotics and automation, evidenced by participation in relevant projects, competitions, or ongoing learning endeavors.
