What we expect from you on the job:
- Maintain patient privacy & HIPAA compliance - ALWAYS
- Interact with patients and family with utmost respect, empathy and putting their interest first
- Prepare patients for examination and procedures by taking vitals and history and entering into electronic medical records; escort them to rooms
- Prepare, restock and sterilize examination rooms/instruments, lab area and all other patient care areas per established policies and procedures.
- Attend telephone calls and relay messages from physicians
- Review labs, take necessary action as needed and inform providers about any abnormal labs
- When applicable, perform injections, phlebotomy, and other specimen collection
- Assist physicians during office procedures
- Schedule appointments for the patients using the electronic medical records software; assist with Check in/Check out as directed
- Check insurance and demographics of the patients, manage payments and keep records
- Perform administrative tasks such as: distributing incoming/outgoing mail and deliveries, photocopying, updating various spreadsheets, compiling records, and distributing documents
What experience or training should you have?
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Medical Assistant Certification
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Prior experience, especially in OB/GYN would be highly preferable
- Experience with electronic medical records preferable
- Ability to use a laptop/computer
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong team member, positive attitude, self-driven
