Position is generally Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm with occasional evenings. No weekends!

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in social work, other human service field, criminal justice, and communication experience in investigation and person location preferred. Strong communication skills, research skills, experience working with children with special needs is a plus. Possess strong leadership, organizational and communication skills. Must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License, ability to pass a background check.
Overview of Position: This position will do research to find kin homes for foster children. This will include going out into the public and asking the children questions to get as much information as they can in order to find a relative.
Summary of duties:
1. Will do extensive research, investigation, and outreach in locating absentee parents/guardians.
2. Identify and locate potential extended family/fictive kinship relationships.
3. Provides assistance to support caseworker staff who serve children with specialized and problematic behavior service needs.
4. Will assist the family caseworker with facilitating the expansion of resources needed to better serve children and their families involved in foster care.
5. Will drive to various locations to attend meetings, conferences, or to locate and assess family homes as needed.
6. Will utilize a family-centered approach that focuses on positive strengths.
7. Have the ability to engage the youth (as age-appropriate), birth parents, family and social connections, foster parents, and staff to facilitate and support stability and permanency for the youth.
8. Possess strong, creative problem-solving skills, and can use non-traditional search methods to identify and locate family members and supportive connections.
9. Has strong data analysis skills needed to conduct diligent search activities across multiple databases, systems, social media, and other websites. Will complete required forms and SACWIS documentation, send written correspondence, and log/track data for use by the foster care team.
10. Assist in training potential foster parents and biological parents/relatives of foster children, as assigned.
11. Coordinates services and attends meetings with other agencies, systems, and community providers to meet the needs of clients.
DIRECT SERVICE
A. Provide transportation for clients as directed by Foster Care Supervisor
B. Staff all cases with the clients’ foster care worker and Foster Care Supervisor
C. Check voice mail on working days and return messages in appropriate time frame.
D. Contact parents and/or foster parents regarding appointments or visits.
E. Contact other necessary parties for transports or visits.
II. OTHER DUTIES
- Actively participates in YSBIV’s Continuous Quality Improvement program
- Checks emails on a daily basis.
- Keeps outlook calendar updated on a regular basis and shares with supervisor
- Comply with rules established for the position.
- Attend agency meetings, trainings, events and supervisory meetings as directed by Foster Care Supervisor

Pay: $45,000.00 per year
