Western Industrial Resources Corporation (WIRC) was founded in 1996 in Mesa, Arizona, by Bruce Nave. That year, WIRC began its long-term relationship with one of the largest natural gas companies by providing general contracting and technical construction management services. From this foundation, WIRC grew significantly and in 2001 added one of the largest copper mine operations in the world as a customer.

Position Overview:
The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for assisting with a variety of tasks including managing company credit card processes, payroll, timekeeping, and other accounting activities. The ideal candidate will be flexible, creative, and collaborative, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Credit Card Processes: Manage and reconcile company credit card transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Payroll: Process payroll for all employees, including verifying hours, calculating wages, and ensuring timely payment.
- Timekeeping: Maintain accurate timekeeping records, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with labor laws.
- Accounting Activities: Assist with accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, financial reporting, and month-end closing procedures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and support company operations.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred however we prefer the right personality and technical skills can be taught to the right person.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the construction or contracting industry however if you have a passion and drive for this type of role apply anyway!
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes and timekeeping systems.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with project-based accounting.
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to think creatively and propose innovative solutions to accounting challenges.
