ACCOUNTING CLERK II
Temp to Hire Position
Part time – 20 Hours/Week
$22.00 to $25.00/Hour
Monday through Friday
SUMMARY
Experienced level of accounting clerical work, typically requiring a general understanding of accounting principals commensurate with 2+ years of accounting training or experience, or equivalent. In larger departments this level may specialize in accounts payable, accounts receivable or another area of accounting. Incumbents make routine choices within established procedures. Work is relatively independent, with supervision available to address nonroutine questions. Incumbents perform basic troubleshooting to reconcile account balances and inquiry to obtain missing information or verify unusual data.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Enters accounts payable/receivable invoices and/or debits/credits into computer.
2. Run payable checks weekly, sorting and filing backup information. Monthly reconciliation of cancelled checks.
3. Accounts receivable collections and maintenance.
4. Work with other departments to resolve information discrepancies in order to perform accounts payable and receivable functions.
5. Prepares invoices for reimbursable expenses.
6. Updates outstanding checklist in Accounts Payable System.
7. Analysis of Sales Representatives Commissions.
8. Files and maintains accounting records.
9. Handle incoming calls, mail distribution and stationary supplies.
10. Assists in special projects and other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to understand and compare accounts-maintenance data from a variety of sources for accuracy and completeness.
2. Ability to locate and compile information, data, or facts from designated sources.
3. Ability to perform calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
4. Ability to interpret and apply instructions and guidelines to specific situations.
5. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, copiers, postage machine, fax machines and calculators.
6. Ability to communicate effectively.
7. Ability to maintain records and files.
8. Ability to meet deadlines.
9. An intermediate level of computer skills is required, including but not limited to, accounting software packages, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require evening and weekend work.
